Solana security researchers and developers are being offered a substantial incentive to enhance the security and performance of the blockchain’s highly anticipated new validator client, “Firedancer.” Starting Wednesday, July 10, a bug bounty program will go live, giving participants the chance to earn up to $1 million for discovering critical bugs in the Firedancer client.
Bounty Program Details
The bug bounty, powered by the Immunefi platform, is a first for Firedancer. The program, running from July 10 to August 21, offers a total reward pool of $1 million. The maximum payout for a single bounty is also set at $1 million, and rewards will be paid in USD Coin (USDC).
What is Firedancer?
Firedancer is an independent validator client developed by Jump Crypto, expected to significantly enhance Solana’s network performance. As a validator client, Firedancer is crucial for processing transactions and building blocks within Solana’s $60 billion network. This client is touted as a superior alternative to “QUIC,” a data transfer protocol developed by Google, which has struggled to handle transaction surges on Solana’s network.
How to Participate
Security researchers interested in participating in the bug bounty program must complete Know Your Client (KYC) details during registration. Bugs found in Firedancer v0.1 will be investigated and responded to within 24 hours on weekdays, according to Immunefi. The platform will also publish a leaderboard and bug reports after the program concludes.
This initiative represents a major step in ensuring the robustness and efficiency of the Solana network, encouraging developers to contribute to its security while potentially earning significant rewards.
